Tug Tow
Depending on whom you ask, a tug tow is either a tug boat designed to pull larger boats or it is a trailer tug designed to pull larger trailers. Either way, the principle is the same. For the purposes of trailer tugs, there are a few varieties that you should know about.
These machines are designed to move your trailer in and around tight spaces that you might not be able to reach with your tow vehicle. They can make the difference in getting your trailer safely and securely into a garage, around a small corner, down a narrow road, or through a tight turnaround. They can haul virtually every type of trailer imaginable, provided the weight of the trailer is within the limits of what the tug tow can handle. Always make sure of this before you attempt any operation.
Three Types of Tug Tows
Tug tows come in three varieties—hand-operated, electric powered and gas powered. Hand-operated tows are typically used for lighter hauling, but should be used with caution as they can cause strain. Electric tows are popular, but can be slow and limited by the need for an electrical source. In too many situations, there is no outlet nearby, rendering electric tows useless.
